Bruno Mars Showcases Artistic Creativity with New Album

Bruno Mars has apparently cracked the code of time travel, as displayed in his third studio album 24k Magic. The nine-track effort brings listeners on a journey back to the 1970s, 80s and 90s through Mars’ channeling of decade-defining artists James Brown, Ike Turner, Prince and Bell Biv DeVoe among others. For Mars fans, this new venture could mean his subsequent 2017 world tour will be a perfect fusion of vintage throwback style and modern pop sound.

The 31-year-old showman made his musical debut in 2010 with a radio-friendly sound that early singles “Just the Way You Are,” “Grenade,” and “Locked Out of Heaven” were chock full of. Over time, Mars’ music evolved, slowly shedding the trite 21st century sound and returning to the roots of his own musical influences, as evident in 2013’s “Treasure,” Mark Ronson’s 2014 megahit collaboration “Uptown Funk” and now with latest single “24k Magic.”

This new album finds Bruno Mars at a creative crossroads. On one hand, he aces the sounds that built funk, marking his place as one of the genre’s inevitable legends. On the other hand, he is also a genius for producing no. 1 hits that will get everyone’s toes tapping and singing along. The issue that comes into play is whether the two avenues can successfully intersect. So where does Bruno Mars go from here? Only time will tell.

If his first two albums are any indication, Bruno Mars will strike gold once again with 24k Magic, and explore the magic of it all on his 85-date tour next year. Tickets on sale now.
