What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas–especially when it comes to entertainment. The area has become a second home to some of the world’s brightest talent as they participate in a coveted residency show along the famed Las Vegas strip. This year’s crop of elite resident performers are truly top-notch and can make even the most distant traveler hop a plane to the Nevada desert to catch a show.
Britney Spears—The Axis at Planet Hollywood
The Princess of Pop continues her reign as Vegas royalty with her residency show Britney: Piece of Me, which has been a staple of The Axis at Planet Hollywood since 2013. The spectacle is exactly what you’d expect out of Vegas entertainment: glitz and glam everywhere you look, from the costumes and choreography to the effects and club-like atmosphere. The overall appeal of the show is impressive enough to make you forget about the infamous lip-syncing allegations often associated with the “Toxic” singer. Spears is currently in the midst of her second leg of shows this year through April 8. She returns May 3-20 and then August 9 through September 2 for final leg of 2017. Browse tickets here.
Celine Dion—Caesars Palace Colosseum
Global superstar and powerhouse vocalist Celine Dion has become a staple of Vegas entertainment since her show Celine first began running in 2011. Over two million people have flocked to Caesars Palace Colosseum since to see the Canadian singer perform her greatest hits, making her one of the most popular and profitable Vegas acts since Elvis Presley. A veteran performer with one of the world’s most beautiful voices, Dion makes her show worth every penny. She has two legs remaining this year and will perform April 4-22 and May 9 through June 3.
Backstreet Boys—The Axis at Planet Hollywood
Backstreet’s back, alright! In their first Vegas residency gig titled Backstreet Boys: Larger Than Life, BSB perform some of their most recent material, though the show’s energy is driven through their greatest hits of the mid- to late-90s. With plenty of loyal fans among the millennial generation and a resurgence on mainstream radio with their Florida Georgia Line collaboration “God, Your Mama, and Me,” the boy band has found even more success with their Vegas engagement. Backstreet Boys: Larger Than Life will be at The Axis at Planet Hollywood for two more legs: April 12-28 and June 14-July.
Elton John—Caesars Palace Colosseum
Grammy, Tony, and Oscar winner Elton John is now in his sixth year of residency at Caesars Palace Colosseum for his concert experience, Elton John: The Million Dollar Piano. The British rocker performs his most memorable tunes like “Tiny Dancer,” “Your Song,” “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” and “Circle of Life” in the acclaimed gig that was recorded and released as a concert film in 2012. John remains at the theater for one more leg, running April 25 through May 5.
Santana—House of Blues
Carlos Santana and company will rock the House of Blues beginning May 17-28, after which they tour venues across the country before returning to House of Blues for two more engagements September 13-24 and November 1-12. The gig marks the reunion of the Grammy-winning band’s classic lineup over 50 years after their formation. Their collection easy-listening Latin, rock, and blues hits pair perfectly with the House of Blues, which is among the area’s more intimate live-music venues but nevertheless just as popular as major spaces.
Jennifer Lopez—The Axis at Planet Hollywood
Hollywood’s most glamorous triple threat puts on a lively, high-energy performance in Jennifer Lopez: All I Have at Planet Hollywood’s Axis auditorium. The Shades of Blue actress fuses together her collection dance bangers (“Dance Again,” “On the Floor”), Latin hits (“Quien Sera”) and throwback guilty pleasures (“Jenny From the Block” “Love Don’t Cost a Thing”) in fluid fashion, making this a feel-good concert from start to finish. Catch J-Lo when she returns to the stage May 24 through June 11 and again September 6 through October 7.
Reba and Brooks & Dunn—Caesars Palace Colosseum
Country music veterans Reba McEntire and Brooks & Dunn team up for their second co-headlining residency, the first being in 2015. Fans are in for a double dose of joy from the “Fancy” singer and “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” duo, who recently reunited after going on hiatus in 2010. They will be performing at Caesars Palace Colosseum on two occasions: June 21 through July 2 and November 29 through December 9.
Jeff Dunham—Caesars Palace Colosseum
As one of the top ventriloquists/comedians around today, Jeff Dunham is tailor-made for Las Vegas. His humor caters to both older and young crowds, and he is able to deliver politically incorrect jokes without crossing the line to turn them offensive. Dunham can provide laughs alone in a monologue performance, but he shines brightest when accompanied by his colorful cast of character puppets, like the grumpy elder Walter and effervescent creature Peanut. Catch him at Caesars Palace Colosseum intermittently from June 16 through July 19 and August 10 through September 13.
