Country music fans, listen up! Are you itching to see your favorite touring artists this summer but don’t want to spend an arm and a leg on concert tickets? The Country Megaticket may be the solution you’re hoping for, giving you a bundle deal unlike any other. But before you finalize the purchase, there are a few important things to know about the Megaticket.
- Only Select Venues Participate
The Megaticket, which grants entry to multiple pre-determined concerts per season, is only up for purchase at certain venues. This typically includes large-scale amphitheaters which most country artists take advantage of during their summer tours, so you prefer stadium concerts or small, intimate venues, you’re out of luck. However, not all amphitheaters which fit the criteria will feature the option. For example, Lady Antebellum, one of this year’s featured artists, are set to perform in Mississippi at the DTE Energy Music Theatre on their tour, despite the venue not carrying the Megaticket option.
2. Select Artists Participate as Well
The touring artists which make up the Megaticket’s lineup of concerts are pre-determined shortly after tours are announced. The 2017 group is comprised of eight talented acts: Jason Aldean, Brad Paisley, Luke Bryan, Lady Antebellum, Thomas Rhett, Brantley Gilbert, Dierks Bentley and Florida Georgia Line. While each are top-notch performers, they do not make up the definitive list of touring country artists. Fan-favorite acts like Zac Brown Band, Sam Hunt and Chris Stapleton are all hitting the road this summer as well, so if you’d like to see them, expect to buy tickets for the individual show rather than with the Megaticket.
3. Not All Participating Artists are Guaranteed to Perform
In a perfect world, a Megaticket buyer will spend eight weeks out of their summer at concerts seeing each of this year’s selected artists. In reality, however, certain venues cannot book all eight in one season. There is no telling which venue will fare best in terms of artists who perform, as some may book several of the participants one year and struggle to get half of the stars the next. For example, Dallas’ Starplex Pavilion is slated to welcome just three of this year’s eight Megaticket names: Lady Antebellum, Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line.
4. There Are Different Tickets Available for Purchase
The Megaticket actually comes in different varieties. Given it’s amphitheater-only criteria the concert bundle can be purchased for the venue’s general admission area or reserved seats. It is important to note that buyers cannot pick and choose the seating specification per show; the seating selection choice is constant for each of the concerts included in the ticket price.
If you’re a country music fanatic who faithfully attends each summer’s lineup of Megaticket concerts, there’s no question you’re likely going to get your hands on the deal, if you haven’t done so already. For casual listeners that would enjoy one show more than another, you may want to consider the lineup at your nearest venue before committing to the Megaticket. The bottom line is to do your research on the artists expected to perform at your desired venue and go from there.
