Katy Perry is hitting the road once again. After months of building anticipation and countless teasers, Perry officially announced a 43-date North American tour this fall in support of her upcoming fifth studio album Witness.
The pop star took to Twitter to share the announcement with a video highlighting her lively past performances, including her memorable 2015 Super Bowl halftime show, hinting that her newest tour will raise the bar even higher as far as head-turning performances go.
Witness, due out June 9, is the singer’s first album since 2013’s Prism, and seemingly introduces an evolving musical style for Perry. The album’s lead single “Chained to the Rhythm” sounds like a familiar Perry tune with a catchy chorus and synth but explores a slightly dark and politicized subject matter in its lyrics. Her second single, “Bon Appetit” featuring Migos is also a departure from her “Teenage Dream” days with a heavy dance/hip-hop beat that varies from her past hits.
Perry will surely perform her latest singles, new material and greatest hits on her new tour, which kicks off September 7 in Columbus, Ohio and wraps up in early February 2018.
