Morrissey announces new North American tour

Morrissey has released the full details of his 15-date North American tour in support of new album Low in High School, due out November 17.

The trek kicks off October 31 in Portland, Oregon and travels across the west coast and midwest before concluding in Boston December 7. Included in the tour are a pair of two previously announced nights at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl in November, the second of which will also feature Billy Idol.

The English singer dropped lead single “Spent the Day in Bed” earlier this week, which features his familiar cynical lyrics that can be interpreted as social commentary on today’s issues (“I recommend that you stop watching the news / because the news contrives to frighten you / to make you feel small and alone”). However, the darker theme of the song is partially masked by upbeat, plucky melodies.
